Charles Emerson – Museum Exhibition

Harris Harvey Gallery’s Charles Emerson will be featured in About Beauty, an exhibition at the George Fox University’s Minthorne Gallery curated by Luke Zimmerman and Seth Tichenor.

The show will be on view at the George Fox Univeristy’s Minthorne Gallery in Newber, Oregon from November 6 – December 5.

Making Our Mark – Museum Exhibition

In celebration of the Pratt Fine Art Center’s longstanding commitment to arts education, the Bellevue Arts Museum’s Making Our Mark: Art by Pratt Teaching Artists will exhibit work by many of Pratt’s finest instructors, including Harris Harvey Gallery’s John Lysak and David W Simpson, as well as the gallery’s previous assistant (2015-2017) Sofya Belinskaya.

The exhibition will be on view at the Bellevue Art Museum November 10 – April 18.

In The Valley of Mystic Light – Museum Exhibition

Work by Joel BrockJohn ColeEd Kamuda and Thomas Wood will be on view at the Skagit County Historical Museum within the In the Valley of Mystic Light exhibition. The show “explores the unique and diverse history of artists [and writers] who found their inspiration in Skagit Valley and how a small community became a place that fostered art and creativity.”

The collection of work is on view from October 28, 2017 to  February 4, 2018.

Lois Silver – Museum Exhibition

Work by Lois Silver will be a featured at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art as part of a month-long jazz-inspired art exhibition in conjunction with the Within/Earshot Jazz Festival, on view through October 28, 2017.

Ed Kamuda Cabin and a Dream – Publication

Michael Upchurch selected Cabin and a Dream by Ed Kamuda as part of the Seattle Times September Gallery Highlights feature. In Kamuda’s work, Upchurch sees “a fanciful shorthand at work that calls to mind the work of Arthur Dove and Paul Klee.”

Peter de Lory – Museum Exhibition

Artwork by Peter De Lory will be exhibited at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art in Friday Harbor alongside printmaker and sculptor Jean Behnke and sculptor Michael Peterson as part of Dialogues of the Forest: From Rocky Outcroppings series. The exhibition examines the artists’ own relationship to the natural enviornment of the Pacific Northwest. The exhibition will be on view at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art in Friday Harbor, Washington from September 16 through November 6, 2017.

Kathryn Altus and David W Simpson – Publication

Michael Upchurch recently reviewed The West: A Fragment by David W Simpson and New Paintings by Kathryn Altus for the Seattle Times. Upchurch writes, “these two contrasting exhibits at Harris/Harvey Gallery show that landscape artistry can stretch to something well beyond the pictorial.”

Kent Lovelace – In Memoriam

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Harris Harvey Gallery artist Kent Lovelace has passed away. Kent Lovelace painted remarkable, luminous works with oil on copper, reviving a technique dating back to the Renaissance Era. He was a master lithographer, a pioneer in the Seattle gallery scene, a father, grandfather and friend.

Charles Emerson – Artist Talk

Charles Emerson will be giving an artist talk about his new body of richly hued abstract paintings featured in Color Meditations. Emerson embraces color and process as the foundation of his artworks, which range from atmospheric compositions reminiscent of landscapes to non-representational color fields.
