Gregg Laananen - Shorthand
Gregg Laananen presents new works in his exhibition Shorthand. While appreciating the beauty, awe and mystery of nature in the Pacific Northwest, Laananen approaches his subject matter with an observational and straightforward manner. His imagery is conceived through drawing, with tensions between form, line and mark-making guiding his observations of the natural world. He often paints with oils utilizing a palette knife or brush or other instrument such as a stick. His paintings can sometimes have a childlike playfulness about them, yet are rich with textures and wonder.
